How to make the sound
Try each sound briefly. These are starting cues, not an automatic pronunciation judgement.
마 · 바
For 마, hum through your nose with closed lips, then open into ㅏ. For 바, briefly close your lips and release into ㅏ.
사 · 아
For 사, let air rub through a narrow gap near the ridge behind the upper teeth, then move into ㅏ. The initial ㅇ of 아 adds no consonant sound.
